Springtime in Houston at the Star of the South Dental Meeting offers the perfect time of year and environment for professional growth. Please accept this invitation to attend the 37th annual session to be held March 27-29, 2008 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The staff and volunteers who have developed this event are proud to present another excellent dental education program with entertaining social events and opportunities to reconnect with friends and colleagues.
A wide variety of internationally known speakers including Dr. Henry Salama, Dr. Jeff Blank, Dr. Nader Sharifi, Dr. John Cranham, Ms. Annette Linder, and Ms. Janet Press to name a few, will present top rated clinical programs. In addition, State Board certification courses for all levels of professionals in the dental field will be available. General practitioners, hygienists, and dental assistants will also have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning from workshops. For those who prefer a non-stop day of continuing education and like to avoid meal lines, the popular breakfast Sunrise Seminars and Lunch and Learn Seminars will be offered for an extra hour of CE credit. Nowhere else in the country can you find such program diversity at such an affordable price!
The Star of the South Exhibit Hall, consisting of more than 200 exhibitors, showcases the latest advancements in technology and materials and provides a competitive marketplace for attendees, which is ideal for purchasing supplies, equipment, and services. Discounts and demonstrations are always available as well as chances to win a variety of prizes. Having won the cash prize drawing of $500 at the 2007 meeting, I can personally attest to the benefit of making purchases in the exhibit hall!
After a full day of continuing education, the Exhibit Hall Happy Hours on Thursday and Friday, the Un-Wine-d Jazz Affair on Thursday evening, and the Friday Night “Dancing with the Star” party will all provide an opportunity to unwind and reconnect with fellow professionals and friends. Sporting events, plays, five star restaurants, and attractions in the revitalized district of Downtown Houston are only minutes away from the convention center and host hotel. The concierge on the second floor of the convention center will be available during the meeting to assist with any reservation requests.
The Star of the South looks forward to providing an environment for success where you may experience learning for growth, both professionally and personally. Thank you for your interest in the meeting, and we hope to see you March 27-29, 2008. Online registration for the conference will open on November 1, 2007.
Your friend and colleague,

Mary B. Mellard, DDS
General Chairman, 2008
